It recently came to my attention that Delta Bingo & Gaming has started the proposal process to relocate from the Dunwyn Centre (1650 Dundas St E) to Rockwood Mall. The first time that my office and I saw the proposal package was December 20th, 2022. Weeks prior to this, information had been circulating throughout the community on this proposal as a notice was posted in the Mississauga News and at their proposed site at Rockwood Mall. I have been made aware by the community that if the bingo hall were to relocate to Rockwood Mall, it is important that it only provide bingo services. If ever the addition of slot machines were to be added to the facility, I would be opposed.
As it currently stands, I do not support the relocation of the Delta Bingo Hall, as they haven’t made a concerted effort to engage or consult the community in order to make a sound decision that takes into consideration the viewpoints of all stakeholders.
In meeting with Delta Bingo, I demanded an extension of their commenting period be made available to the community and that they use this opportunity to properly engage the public and Council on their proposal. Moving forward, I have made it clear to the City and Delta Bingo that proper and timely communication must be provided to the community.
The relocation of Delta Bingo cannot proceed without Council approval. I encourage all concerned residents to read the proposal and contact my office and Delta Bingo to relay your concerns
