The past few months the consultants have been using the findings from Phase 1 to advance Phase 2, which ultimately includes modeling of various flood mitigation scenarios and identifying the impact these scenarios have to the flood risk of private properties. The flood mitigation measures being considered now include stormwater management facilities and creek works (such as widening of creeks, changes of bridge structures, regarding etc). In Phase 2, the consultant has identified 19 potential locations for ponds upstream and around the study area. These parcels have been closely assessed for size, catchment area, and potential limiting factors (such as hydro poles or trees) and ranked in terms of most to least effective. They have also identified 3 locations for proposed channel works. Hydraulic and hydrologic models have been updated to reflect current conditions, and continue to be updated in consultation with the TRCA to appropriately reflect flood risk. The next steps will include running hybrid modeling scenarios that will include a combination of storage facilities and channel works to identify which options are most feasible but also most effective in removing privately owned structures from the flood risk zone. We hope to have an update to residents on the findings of the study in 2026
