UPDATE | July, 2025:
On July 28, 2025, a report was considered by Planning and Development Committee regarding the proposed official plan amendment and rezoning applications at 1470 Williamsport Drive. The proposal consists of two 12 storey rental apartment buildings with a shared 6 storey podium, containing 283 units. The staff report recommended that the applicant continue to work with staff and that a report be brought back to Planning and Development Committee at a future date, upon the applicant resolving outstanding matters. Separate from the official plan amendment and rezoning applications, the applicant has also submitted a Section 99.1 Permit application to allow for the demolition and replacement of the existing 53 rental units on the property, under the City’s Rental Housing Protection By-law. The landowner and applicant continues to work with the City to satisfy the requirements of the Rental Housing Protection By-law. I continue to advocate for the tenants of the existing building and maintains that a plan must be in place between the landowner and existing tenants before a demolition permit is issued.

During the meeting, there were many concerns raised by residents about where they will relocate if the development is approved. I have requested reassurance from the applicant (Sajecki Planning Inc.) to meet with residents in the existing building, keep them in the loop, and to also provide them with the FAQ as soon as possible.
Thank you once again for attending. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
