The construction of the midblock pedestrian traffic signal on Burnhamthorpe Road at the Applewood Trail will commence tomorrow. The City’s contractor has begun their pre-works at the site. As the contractor begins to mobilize at the site, the community will see markings (spray paint) to layout equipment locations and barrels arriving on site. As the City moves forward, the installation and construction will take place in stages and there may be breaks between works as the contractor transitions to subsequent phases.
During construction, traffic delays may occur due to lane restrictions. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times. All lane restrictions will be removed by end of day and are subject to the approved construction hours. In addition, pedestrian access in the area will be maintained at all times during construction. Closures of the sidewalk will be experienced; however, alternative pedestrian access will be provided.
