Burnhamdale Park Redevelopment & Improvements

UPDATE: May 14, 2025

As part of the Burnhamdale Park Spray Pad and Park Improvements project, the City is constructing a new trail connection to the north, to improve accessibility and trail connectivity in the park. This portion of the work supports a Road Safety Audit conducted by the City and aims to assist the School Walking Program.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by this August, weather permitting. Please find attached a map highlighting the limits of the construction work and temporary disruptions.

UPDATE: March 28th, 2025

Please be advised that construction of the Burnhamdale Park Spray Pad is scheduled to commence on site next week, by April 2, 2025, weather permitting.

The contractor will be mobilizing on site in Phases.  They will begin by hoarding off the playground, fitness area and the new location of the spray pad, to commence earthworks.

The park trail will remain open at this time and the contractor will schedule deliveries etc. at off peak school hours and use flag persons to ensure safety.   Following the opening of the asphalt plants later in May, the contractor will install a temporary asphalt trail connection from Cardross Road, running between the sports courts, and west to connect with the existing trail at St. Alfred Separate School, before closing the park trail.

We will provide you with further updates as the work progresses.

Big things are happening at Burnhamdale Park.  Recent improvements include a reconstructed park trail, a brand-new multi-purpose court, and a dedicated pickleball court.

This spring, construction will begin on a community spray pad, complete with a shaded seating area designed for accessibility and social gatherings. The park’s two public tennis courts are also scheduled for a full upgrade, with reconstruction planned after the 2025 tennis season.

With these improvements to Burnhamdale Park, the focus will now be on providing community activities and experiences within a short walking distance of the neighborhood.
