The City of Mississauga has prepared our fleet so that residents can continue to move around the city safely during and after a snowfall. Our winter crews, along with 378 pieces of equipment are ready to respond to winter storms around the clock, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The City clears and salts using a priority route system. Major roads, such as Burnhamthorpe Road or Dundas Street, including on-street bike lanes, priority sidewalks, bus stops, pedestrian crossings and designated roadside multi-use trails are cleared first. Winter maintenance on residential roads starts once major roads are cleared. Roads with parked cars take longer to plow or salt. You can help by removing your vehicle, garbage and recycling bin from the road during heavy snowfalls.
