With 15% of Mississauga’s residents living in poverty, providing adequate and nutritious food is a daily challenge for many families. The Mississauga Food Bank aims to ease this struggle for our hungry neighbours while they work to get back on their feet. Their vision is a Mississauga where no one goes hungry .

Each year, The Mississauga Food Bank implements food and fundraising drives to raise food for 2.9 million healthy meals distributed through a network of 41+ agencies. The success of these drives is crucial to ensuring there is adequate food and funds to feed the thousands of individuals and families that rely on these meals every day.

The goal of the Thanksgiving campaign this year is to raise $315,000 and 250,000lbs of food by October 21.

I am asking all the residents of Ward 3 to participate in this campaign. With your support, we can ensure children and families in our neighbourhood don’t have to go hungry.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Drop off food donations at your local fire station, community centre or library.
  • Organize a food drive or fundraiser with your office, neighbours, religious organization or school. You can register your drive on The Mississauga Food Bank’s website where you can download promotional posters and arrange for delivery and pickup of food
collection containers. There are special challenges with prizes available for top school and corporate food drives!
  • Spread the word! It takes all of us to feed our hungry neighbours. Share the information posted to my website/Facebook/Twitter page with your network so everyone can help us raise food.

I look forward to your enthusiastic participation in this campaign as we partner together with our neighbours to ensure no one in Mississauga goes hungry.
