The GTAA and NAV CANADA have compiled and analyzed feedback from the community and from elected officials received during the seven-week consultation on Six Ideas to reduce noise impacts for our neighbours. We are releasing a report on August 9, detailing the Summer 2018 consultation results. Please find an advance copy of that report attached.
NAV CANADA and the GTAA committed to an extensive public outreach and consultation process for the Six Ideas. We are very pleased to share: information about the Six Ideas and the consultation period reached more than 2.9 million people through multiple communications channels, from online surveys to technical briefings. Together, the GTAA and NAV CANADA hosted an eleven-week (77 day) community consultation that resulted in more than 900 survey responses and approximately 430 open house attendees.
The Six Ideas are just one example of how we work at being a good neighbour. From our recently updated Five-Year Noise Management Action Plan, our broad-ranging environmental sustainability programs, community-building initiatives through our Community Investment Program, to our advocacy work to bring more transit options to the airport, we think as much about where our community is heading, as we do about our passengers.
The GTAA will continue to brief and seek feedback from you and other elected officials about next steps related to the testing and implementation of the Six Ideas that fall within the GTAA’s purview.
If constituents contact your office with any concerns about aircraft noise, please direct them to the GTAA’s Noise Office at: 416-247-7682 or to the online noise complaint form. Members of the community can find more information about aircraft noise complaints on the Noise Office webpage. And, we encourage all community members to stay informed about our operations by following us on Twitter or signing up for our community newsletter, Checking In.
