Now that the warm weather is finally here, it’s time to start planning for summer fun with many of our family-friendly activities across Mississauga.
1) Celebrate Canada Day
On July 1, celebrate Canada’s 151st birthday at Mississauga Celebration Square. The event kicks off with an afternoon filled with music and entertainment for the whole family. There will also be food trucks, roaming entertainment throughout the afternoon, a concert in the evening and an explosive fireworks finale.
2) Enjoy Mississauga’s Culture
Come out to Mississauga Celebration Square for a variety of free events and festivals this summer. With weekly movie nights, concerts, food truck rallies and cultural festivals, there are tons of events for the family to enjoy. If you’re looking to learn more about the local history and culture, spend some time at Mississauga’s museums this summer.
3) Visit the Parks
Pack a cooler, grab a soccer ball and get your family together to enjoy the parks in Mississauga. Head out to Erindale Park, Meadowvale Conservation Area or Jack Darling Memorial Park for a family picnic. You can also get your body moving with a hike at one of the City’s trails. Try taking a stroll under the shade of some trees at The Riverwood Conservancy or Lake Aquitaine.
4) Hit up the Spray Pads
Need a place to cool down on a hot sunny day? Beat the heat this summer at one of the City’s free spray pads. Spray pads are open every day throughout the summer and have engaging water features to keep the kids smiling. Celebration Square’s fountain is also open on the Upper Square.
5) Check out the Library
Enjoy these warm sunny days with some outdoor reading. Pick out an exciting book to read on the patio, listen to an audiobook on a summer road trip or grab a magazine to read by the pool. From eNewspapers and video games to summer programs for children, the Library offers many services where everyone can find something to enjoy. For a fun summer night, pick out a movie for the family to enjoy.
