The Region of Peel celebrated Waste Reduction Week and the significant effort residents have put into participating in the Region’s Blue Box Program, by planting a tree that symbolizes the 14 million that have been saved by recycling newspaper.
We are having a tree planting event to celebrate the success the Blue Box Program in Peel and renew our shared commitment to the environment during Waste Reduction Week.
I want to commend residents for their ongoing efforts and participation in the Blue Box Program; currently 85 percent of curbside households consistently put out a blue box for pick up.
Residents are currently doing a great job of participating in the Program but Waste Reduction Week is a perfect opportunity to strive to achieve higher recycling targets and participation in Peel.
