Waste Collection

Due to unprecedented volumes of flood-related waste set out for collection as a result of last week’s storm, a portion of Wednesday’s waste collection area south of Highway 403 to the Queen Elizabeth Highway (QEW) between Mavis Road and Cawthra Road in Mississauga and a portion of the Thursday waste collection area south of Highway 401 to Lake Ontario in Mississauga were not serviced for garbage collection this week.

Mississauga’s Wednesday collection area as well as the remainder of Mississauga’s Thursday collection area will be collected as a priority today. A full fleet of garbage collection vehicles will be deployed to collect these areas missed for waste collection services. The Region anticipates that waste collection vehicles will be on route until approximately 4 p.m. today.

For the week of July 22nd, the Region of Peel’s two-bag collection limit will be waived for residents with flood-related waste items. If the previous day’s scheduled collection area is affected by delays, residents are encouraged to leave their waste at the curb for collection. Residents will be serviced in priority sequence on the following day.

The Region continues to appreciate residents’ patience during this time of extreme heat and high volumes of flood-related waste.
