Due to the health benefits of short bursts of activity, the Region of Peel has opened up the stair wells at 7120 Hurontario and 10 Peel Centre Drive to encourage staff and visitors to use the stairs. Research has shown that every little bit counts, and in the photos above, Councillor Foncesa is doing her part to promote stair use and model healthy behaviour.
- Short bursts of activity throughout the day has health benefits
- Take the stairs, walk briskly to a destination, have an active break or hold a walking meeting
- Research shows that even if you exercise, sitting all day has adverse health effects
- It’s important to get up and move every day
