Please read my article in the Mississauga Life Spirit of the City magazine for September/October 2012  entitled Olympic Spirit.

Olympic Spirit

Yesterday’s

Yearning youth

Become strong men and women bold,

Glowing in those five rings, to kiss the medal gold.

Tomorrow’s

Aspiring youth

Pursue with persistence, the ever-painful game

Experiencing peaks and valleys, to touch Olympic fame.

Burn high you

Timeless torch

Fore peaceful power proud,

The moment is upon us, as cheers erupt the crowd.

All nations

Come together

To catch the winning wave,

Bask in those many colors, amazing athletes brave.

Cheer them on

Women, men of all nations

They all deserve our praise,

Celebrate their journey, as laurel wreath we raise.

Yesterday’s

Yearning youth

With courage dream to succeed,

Among the many colors, proud of the Maple Leaf they lead.

Tomorrow’s

Aspiring youth

Honour Canadian virtues resolve, determination and community,

Heads held high they thrive, through their chosen sport victory.

Burn high you

Timeless torch

In these glorious moments peaceful nations share,

They raise hands, shake hands, clap hands, in humanity we care.

All nations

Come together

To capture sweet success,

A magical transforming moment, that words cannot express.

Cheer them on

Women, men of all nations

Especially those wearing red and white,

Their commitment, confidence and courage will inspire well

beyond this 2012 fortnight.
